- Full sun. The species develops the heavy lateral branching and white flowering only with serious light.
- Water
- Heavy summer drinks, full dry-down between. Saundersii is among the thirstier Pachypodium in active growth; underwatering shows up as poor flower set.
- Soil
- Mineral-leaning mix with a small organic fraction. The healed caudex face deserves particular care during repotting; do not bury it.
- Dormancy
- Winter-deciduous. Leaves drop with cool, shorter days; hold water through the rest period.
- Hardiness
- USDA 10b–11 (45°F dry floor; the species is among the cold-tougher tropical Pachypodium).
