Al founded Botanic Wonders after a lifetime in California horticulture — thirty years of growing rare and specimen plants, most of it on the same hilltop in northern San Diego County.
The catalog instinct runs deep here — nearly every plant on this site is individually photographed, so what you see is what you get.

The nursery sits on a hilltop in northern San Diego County. Production greenhouses, an outdoor garden of mature agaves and cycads, and bench after bench of caudiciforms, euphorbias, and bonsai-trained Bursera.
We propagate from our own seed and cuttings. Provenance is tracked. Every plant pictured on the site is the plant that ships — there are no stock photos, no hidden inventory, no “closest available substitute.” If you order a plant, you get the plant.
Anthony, Al’s business partner, runs the photography and the digital side. The reels you see on Instagram are his. The site is a collaboration — Al’s growing, Anthony’s seeing.
Visit us if you can. Most people leave with a plant they hadn’t planned on.
