Full Euphorbia care guide → - Light
- Full sun for the aerial stems; the buried caudex is well-shaded by definition. The plant tolerates more sun than most South African Euphorbias once mature.
- Water
- Moderate summer drinks with full dry-down. The buried caudex reserves carry the plant easily through dry intervals; underwater rather than overwater.
- Soil
- Mineral-heavy mix with about 20 percent organic. The species accepts more humus than its dry-country origins suggest because the caudex is buried.
- Dormancy
- Cool-season rest with leaf and tip dieback. Hold water through winter except for a token monthly drink.
- Hardiness
- USDA 10a–11 (40°F dry floor; the species is among the cold-tougher South African Euphorbias).
- Feeding
- Half strength balanced fertilizer every three weeks in summer. None in winter.
